ABOUT US
Our Mission
Volunteers in Education engages the community in the education of its students, supporting their growth and preparing them for productive citizenship.
A Brief History of Volunteers In Education
In 2005, the founder of Volunteers in Education (VinE), H. Arthur Dale, placed a new vision before leaders in three communities in Independent School District ( ISD) 2142. In 2007 endorsements were received from the ISD 2142 school board, school administration, and the teachers union. Endorsement from the Laurentian Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America was received, along with initial funding from the Cook PTO, Babbitt Lions Club, Babbitt Credit Union and Evangelical Lutheran Church of Babbitt to form a nonprofit organization.

VinE has continued to partner with our local schools; VinE tutors are now present in the Cherry, Tower-Soudan, Mountain Iron/Buhl, North Woods, and Northeast Range schools. In the 2019-2020 school year, we had 74 volunteers providing one-on-one and small group tutoring to students. During the spring of 2020 and the 2021-2022 school year, our program was put on hold while students and teachers navigated the challenges of online and hybrid instruction due to the COVID pandemic. VinE is re-launching in April 2023 to resume supporting student success!

VinE continues to grow with the support of the local community and continued financial support from The United Way and The Northland Foundation along with a variety of local foundations and private donations.
